Dr Rheanna Mainzer

At MathsCraft I met a group of passionate mathematicians and maths teachers. We worked on problems that encouraged logical thinking, exploration, creativity, communication and team-work. There was a respectful classroom culture where it was safe to speak up and share ideas. The problems began simply, and then evolved – if something interesting was discovered, we were encouraged to explore it further. This process closely resembles what it is like doing research as a mathematician. MathsCraft is a great program that I would highly recommend to teachers and students. I left equipped with new strategies to encourage and engage students in maths.
